You can also use a drill and drill out the end of the factory rod, as it's flared to hold it in place. The new rod is grooved to help keep it in place. Be careful not to damage the reused plastic. There are two tabs that must remain intact for installation.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e You must remove the supplied plastic clip from the new handle and reattach it after inserting it into the old door shell.\u003cbr\u003e Pay attention to the spring's orientation. It must be reinstalled in the same position as it was originally installed. It takes a little effort, but it will fit correctly.
